Hosted by LUX-SPA, this event kicked off The Rainflower Company’s grand opening in the posh Yorkville district on September 18th, 2008. Champagne and appetizers were served to guests. Door prizes were provided by various sponsors, including Marc Anthony Hair Salons, Madhatter Design Company and LUX-SPA. Net proceeds from the floral silent auction were donated to Charitree Foundation, a program that supports tree-planting projects to benefit children and our planet. Colourful Shoes & Socks

Over the next month or so, I’m going to be featuring some wedding trends that have been extremely popular over the last year as well as some new ones that will carry over into 2009 as well.  Please use this more as  inspiration, rather than something that “must be followed”.  After all, what makes each and every wedding so different is your signature style that is unique to you.  Trends come and go, but you can definitely get some ideas and inspiration to incorporate into your theme.  One of my favorites for this past year, is the coloured shoes trend.  Even the guys are getting in on this and having fun with it by wearing brightly coloured stripey socks or colours that match the wedding colour scheme.  I think it’s a refreshing change to the typical white shoes, and adds a splash of whimsy.  You can really have fun with this, and photographers love it too!  If you’re doing any colour other than white, send me a picture of it, and I’ll incorporate it in the next inspiration board.  I’m sure, I’ll be doing more of these! I absolutely love them!

Julia & Gabe are the sweetest couple.  They are getting married on May 30th, 2009, and as soon as we met I knew I wanted to work with them.  They are really easy going and want to create something really vibrant and modern.  Julia has a really great sense of style, and was open to several floral selections.  Especially, peonies and cymbidium orchids… which we will be using quite a bit of.  Here is an inspiration board that I’ve created for them, using their lovely engagement photo taken by the super talented Mimmo + Naz.
