Friday Pretties…

I had to share these pics w/ you that I came across while reading the Fiore Fresco blog.  These beauties were taken from the super talented Mint and Sage, and the absolutely gorgeous flowers were done by Fiore Blossoms.  You can visit both websites for more images.  How picture perfect!  Just stopped drooling now…  Happy Friday everyone!

Tulips

FRENCH TULIPS
French Tulips are usually about 8 inches longer than the standard tulip.  They are quickly becoming one of my favorite flowers to work with as I find they are perfect in their simple, statuesque nature.  Tulips continue to grow under water and you will need to keep that in mind.  I love that they come in a wide array of spectacular colors, including shades of red, orange, yellow, white and pink.

PARROT TULIPS
Parrot Tulips have  frilly, feathery and fluffy fringed edges.  They are saturated  multi-coloured “moving” flowers that stretch and turn towards the light.  That is what adds to their charm.  Light and flowy with a punch of intense style.  You can’t miss it in a mixed flower bouquet or centerpiece but quite honestly, they also look gorgeous all on their own.

Well… guess what colour was chosen as the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2009? Here is what they have to say directly from the Pantone site.

CARLSTADT, N.J., Dec. 3, 2008 Pantone, an X-Rite company (NASDAQ: XRIT), and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, today announced PANTONE® 14-0848 Mimosa, a warm, engaging yellow, as the color of the year for 2009. In a time of economic uncertainty and political change, optimism is paramount and no other color expresses hope and reassurance more than yellow.

Soooo…. what do you think?   Is “Mimosa” your choice for Colour of the Year?
